M1 integration with TurboTax and H&R Block

You can seamlessly integrate your M1 account with TurboTax and H&R Block.  

Please make sure to follow the M1 Finance AND TurboTax/H&R Block instructions below. 

 

M1 Finance Instructions 

Prior to visiting the TurboTax or H&R Block website - you'll need to find your M1 account number(s). If you have more than one account number, you will need to go through this process and the TurboTax process for each account. 

To find your M1 Account Number: 

  1. Log into your M1 account.
  2. Click the "Menu" button.
  3. Click "Settings". 
  4. Click the "Account" tab and you will see your account number below.

Connecting with TurboTax 

  1. Start a new return in Turbo Tax. 
  2. Go “Federal”, then select “Wages & Income.”

3. Answer the following prompts.

4. You will then connect directly to the financial institution. Click “Continue.

5. On the next screen you will need to enter “M1 Finance” into the field “I’m looking for”.  Select “M1 Finance” and then press “Continue”.

6. You will then be presented with a login screen. Your log in credentials will be the following:  

  • Login: M1 Account Number 
  • Password: Your Social Security number

Connecting with H&R Block 

  1. From the Federal Income tab, click “Add” next to Investments, then click “Visit Topic” next to “1099-B Sale of stocks…” 
  2. Under "Your Income" click “Yes” 
  3. Under "What's your Financial Institution?" click "Other" 
  4. Type “Apex” next to “Financial Institution” and select “Apex Clearing Corporation” from the drop-down. Click “Next” 
  5. Enter your account number in the “Apex User ID" field. You can find your account number by logging into your M1 Account and click the "Menu" button on the top right-hand side. Click "Settings" and then click "Accounts". You can also find this information on your tax form. 
  6. Apex Password is your Tax ID (usually your social security number). Click “Import” 
  7. If the import was successful, you will see a summary of imported transactions. 

If you have more than one account number with a tax form - you will need to add each account individually.
