What’s the difference between checking and savings?

A checking account is a type of bank deposit account designed for everyday money transactions. A savings account is not intended for daily use as the money is meant to stay in the account so it earns interest over time. Savings accounts tend to have higher interest rates than checking accounts but have more restrictions on the number of withdrawals.
